Q

Why have my balances not been updated?

by Richard 11 months ago.

I want to know how much I owe everyone but my balances don't seem to have been updated. How do I go about this?

Debt Line pay the people you owe money to based on the size and priority of the debt. This generally means that the biggest debts will get a larger amount and the smaller debts will get a lower amount.

If we updated your balances each month, this would continuously change the payment offer, which could break the agreements we have arranged for you.

When the companies you owe contact us to review the offer, we update your balances to make sure they're getting an accurate amount.

Under the Credit Consumer Act 1974, the companies you owe should still be sending you statements at least once per year so you can monitor your balances. You can also request a statement and they have to provide you with one.

Am I allowed to update my balances online?

Hi Lizzie_Lou,

Yes, you can. To do this, log in to your online account, click on the debt you would like to update then click on the link that says "change these details". This link allows you to make changes to your debt reference and your balance.

Thanks!
